The balsam fir (Abies balsamea) is a short-needled tree known for its strong scent and sturdy branches. Balsam firs are perennial Christmas trees favorites that retain their needles well. They are closely related to Fraser firs. We also have Canaan firs, which are a hybrid of balsam and Fraser firs.
